Full Version: The Sony VAIO Type X
Krazy Letter Forums > Technology > Hardware

Looks as though Sony has outdone everyone again with the VAIO Type X desktop computer. The Type X features seven, yes, seven, TV tuners, a 3.6-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 processor, one gigabyte of RAM, and a double layer DVD burner drive. The 128-megabyte video card might not satisfy those insatiable Nintendo fanboys, but for hardcore gamers, they will appreciate the VAIO Type X for its128-megabyte video card. Companion pieces for the Type X include a 23-inch HDTV monitor to match the HDTV tuner.

Okay...

Hardcore gamers would have at least 256MB, 512MB usually. I only have a 128MB graphics card though, it's enough, but not enough for Doom 3 and Halo: CE. Also, Pentium 4s aren't built for gaming, they run slower then an AMD Athlon of the same speed, but the Pentium 4 will work regardless, especially since it runs at 3.6ghz. Anywho, everything sounds good. How much does it retail for?

http://www.ibuypower.com way better prices i would expet. Sony doesn't have this X series on its website.

anyway i was able to make an extremely nice computer (anthlon-64 FX-57, Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX, plus the best lcd moniter they had, 1gb of ram, 5.1 speakers with subwoofer, 7.1 enabled sound card, etc.)
all this for under $3000

i was also able to make an intel comp with 3.8 ghz, nvidia geforce 7800GTX, the best lcd moniter they had, 2GB RAM, 5.1 speakers, 7.1 enabled sound card, 200 gb hard drive, for slightly less money.

You just proved my point, the insatiality of Nintendo-fanboys. And 512-megabytes?! You need dual video cards for that. Very few people use dual video cards. Not even Doom 3, which might I mention is not on any Nintendo platform, and is one of the most graphics-intensive games ever made, requires 512-megabytes of video memory.

You said hardcore, so I showed you hardcore.

128 and 256-megabytes are both enough for even some of the most graphics intensive applications today.
