Because of a failure in backups (I didn't realise that the server does not backup the database in an incremental backup), the database has been reverted to one from 9/11.
If you cannot login, please check to make sure that you have registered BEFORE 9/11, or did not change your password after 9/11.
Because we have lost many posts and time and members, (used to be around 63,000,) I believe we can use this opportunity to gradually transfer to IPB 2.2 (first move the bulletin board, then when I rewrite the mods for IPB 2.2 we can use that as our primary).
More info soon.

Wow...I tried not to make this a one word post, but that's all I have.
-EDIT-
So what happens now?

Lappy512 used an older DB backup to restore the forums. The server did not back up recently, so we're stuck here. Lappy512 is taking this opportunity to upgrade to IPB 2.2, since we're stuck at this point, there's less hassle.
Looks like that restore is a no go after all

I wouldn't worry much, G_F22.

I went into the files manually, and I found that the cPanel Backup system stopped backing them up ever since I opted for an Incremental backup.

I have the day off tomorrow, so I'm going to spend my time tomorrow getting us migrated to the new IPB.

No, we lost many topics due to a certain someone mass deleting topics. That's why Lappy512 rolled back, it's better than nothing.
Just sit tight untill Lappy512 upgrades.

Who deleted the topics? What the heck is going on here? Geez, I'm gone for a little while and this place experiences some major crisis. Not that I am blaming anyone. Who ever did it must have banned my account also, because when I tried to log in after getting back, I could not.

one question: will there or will there not be a restoration of KL to where it was... um... before this happened? I wasn't able to figure that out from the post...
Sad thing is that all my posting came after 9/11 so i'm back down to a newbie i think...

As my backups have failed to work properly, I have decided to take this opportunity to move to a new version of Invision Power Board.
Think of this as a move similar to the old move that we had a year or so ago. Everyone can start from scratch again there.

Will the post count and status still be the same, or will we all be demoted?

Post counts suck. Have them hidden in the upgrade, Lappy512.

Why do you dislike post counts?
leftylink
Nov 10 2006, 06:01 PM
There are people who place too much importance on it. They think the higher the post count the more respect you gain, so they make meaningless stupid posts just to raise it. There is a certain member who has garnered my dislike due to his tendency to do that, but I'll not mention his name...

It's disabled in many forums anyway and shouldn't matter at all.
Most count is starting over from scratch, I believe.

Yeah, the only thing it does is promote superiority...I mean, look at how it went to myscrnnm's head that one time, when he thought leaving KL would actually do something...I agree with Alecto. Although...how will we get KP to buy tomatoeas and cockroaches and stuff from the store?

Just because your post count isn't shown doesn't mean that KP aren't added to your account anyways.

Yes, KP will always be added... though KP promotes spam as well.

True, but an event like that doesn't effect the fact that KP had been distributed previously.
