Full Version: Getting a FREE Mercedes

Sweet. Yeah, so I did some inventory work for a guy whose auto shop burned to the ground, and hes giving me an old black mercedes as a bonus! It needs some minimal work, but it's a frickin free mercedes! And it's old to the point that it's on the verge of being a classic, maybe early '70's I guess just from looking at it. Basically all I have to do is pay someone $50 to tow it back here, and then I have to drop the gas tank and empty it cuz it's been sitting for 2 years, and then at some point get a new door for it and put that on because the current passenger side door has a wicked bad rust spot.

SWEET!!

Yeah. Originally he was selling it for like, 1500, and I was considering taking 1500 off of my bill and taking that instead, but because of the work involved, I wasn't going to, but since I can get it for nothing now, hell, I'll take it! lol.

The furnace was old, and the guys who were renting the place from him were screwing around with it. One night, it just burned.

Hey, this makes me remember a quote!

"Chop down the rain forests! Burn fossil fuels! Buy Mercedes Benzes!" biggrin.gif

So he just gave it to you? Lucky. But the new door is going to cost you alot. Still, it's a great deal.

I can probobly get one in good shape from a junk yard for $30 maybe... Getting it painted to match would be 20 or 30... and then I can either pay someone to put it on (I dunno how much the labor would be) or I could do it myself, but it's so easy to mess up your frame mounting doors, I think I'll just pay someone to do it.
serebii
You should pay someone. BUT, labor is expensive, remember that.

Dude, lucky! I'm gonna need a car soon... mayhaps you can donate your old car to me? And it'll only cost about twice as much as the car's actual worth to truck it over here wink.gif

Lol, boy do you have bad timing... I just gave a friend of mine a 98 twin turbo supra last month. Needs a new starter assembly, cuz I dont have the key for it... dont ask...

I'm gunna keep my truck anyways. It's probobly more fuel efficient, although they're both pigs, so it's not much of a difference. I just want the benz so I can rub it in the collective face of the few rich people I hang out with.

My brother used to drive an Audi A6. Now he's got some BMW SUV thing...
S.W.A.T
I don't have a dream car,maybe a Jetta,a Lambourghini Diablo,a Porsche,or maybe even a Mazda 6.

My dream car is one that doesn't cost $80,000, actually gets decent gas milage, and when you total it, you don't go home and cry for 8 hours.
Herloss
I havn't measured yet (cuz I've never had enough money in pocket to fill my tank twice), but I'd guess that my truck gets 15 or less MPG... *cries*

Last
2004 Honda Insight,
Gets 60 mpg
Drives Like its 30 years old
Costs $20,500
I'ld rather get that back from insurance, I'ld love to see mine totaled, if I had one, and put 1,000$ more to get a Prius.

Only thing I can see that fits your scenario extremely well

Can we like get some pictures of it? Also, what model is it? Most models from the 70s should be classic, but you never know.

Next time I'm in the area, or whenever I front up the money to have it towed here, sure. I dont know the model or the year exactly, I'm just guessing the approximate year of it just from looking at it.

Hmm, sounds like a 300D, although I wouldn't call it boxy. Perhaps your Mercedes-Benz predates the 70s. Mercedes-Benz has always had designs that are ahead of its time.

Next time I go by I'll check the label on the doorframe (if mercedes puts those there like everyone else).

Just check the boot, that's where the name is on all Mercedes-Benzes and most cars I've seen.
