Well that all depends. I read back through the topic, and it would appear that you aren't speaking in reference to any specific ailment. Marijuana has hundreds of legitimate medical uses outside of simple anesthesia. It's estimated that Marijuana could replace as much as 20% of all perscription drugs in existance.

Not to mention that many current anesthesias can have very undesirable, potentially harmful side effects. Hell, I cant remember which, but either ibuprofin(sp?) or aspirin can be worse for your liver than binge drinking. A potentially lethal effect.
