I personally don't remember how good any of their songs that I listened to were, but at least I've heard of them.

Anyways, I've heard of Rage Against the Machine. They're like one of the biggest alternative rock/metal/funk bands ever. I haven't heard much of their stuff that I've paid attention to, but I've heard of them at least.

And that's only if you mean the old Green Day back in the mid-1990's. Punk is more than just lyrics and vocal stylings, you know.

OKAY i LOVE rage against the machine There is a kind of music that mixes Punk and heavy metal together its called METALCORE! i love metal core too. in metalcore they take musical elements from punk (3 chords) and mix it with metal elements (heavy distortion, big solos, and down tuning on guitars) as for vocals they mix screaming and singing

Screaming isn't talent. And how are you conveying a message by screaming? The only message I have heard it convey is that they are mad and they are screaming. Plus, all the words are inaudible.

A lot of metal isn't in the lyrics but in the instrumentals of it. That's where the feeling is.

Who are you to tell people what is talent and what isn't talent. Look the Eagles are long gone try listening to "New" music like AFI, Avenged Sevenfold, and Anti-flag. Thrash metal is all scream, metalcore is mostly singing with some screaming and that screaming is different from thrash screaming. Thrash screaming sounds like Cookie Monster, Metalcore is just screaming.

That demonic-sounding screaming stuff is too aggressive for me.

So yeah, Thrash Metal is scary.

Thrash metal is Pantera, Damagplan, and Lamb of God. Metalcore is Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, and UnderOath.

well you could call it talent, takes talent not to blow your voice box after doing a tour well that could be solved by screaming on an in word breath but not many people do that, it sounds drasticly diffrent

Most Thrash Metal songs last about a minute. Metalcore songs last about 3 minutes or more because they sing more than scream.

Point number one:
I'm not saying what is and isn't talent. I'm saying that, in metal of all types, the emotion goes into the instrumentals of a song, not the lyrics.
Point number two:
I dont listen to the Eagles. Ever. I was born on Alice Cooper and raised on AC/DC, KISS, Warrant, Zepplin, etc. I'll listen to whatever I d@mn well please. I listen to Stone Sour, Three Days Grace, SOAD, Buckcherry, and Korn, all PLENTY new.

Hey the phrase was meant for guitar freak, because he went onto a punk forum and started talking about it and how punk is dieing. I have nothing against classic rock. I like Led Zepplin, Kiss, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, The Doors, and Jimi Hendrix. I was raised on classic rock too, Herloss. I just said that because guitar freak said that punk was dieing and its not. I meant to quote Guitar freak and I hit the wrong button, I'm sorry for any confusion. So talking about it would be me making several posts bashing it. All I said was that it was dead. To me. I did not have a conversation about it dieing, it was just one simple statement.
