So what?Japan, sure they make good family cars, but Germany? They make Porchse and Mercedes-Benz.there cars aren't perfect and the innovations mean nothing because other countries copy them and make them better...
No, Japan is now beginning to unleash its true potential due to the expiration of the horsepower limitation that was previously up until now imposed on them. Honda, Toyota, and Nissan already have concepts prepared for supercars exceeding 400hp. Oh yeah, here's one where Japan kicked Italian butt - the Honda NSX, which debuted in 1991, featured an all-aluminum chassis, it would be nearly a decade before Ferrari used the same type of building process. For most of its lifetime, the NSX also boassted the highest output of any naturally-aspired six-cylinder engine in the world. And to top it off, despite having less hp, the NSX tied the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale's lap time in Nurburgring Nordschleife.
Also, Germany doesn't just have Porsche and Mercedes-Benz as good automobile manufacturers. They've also got BMW, Audi, Opel, Ruf, and Volkswagen. And say what you want about Volkswagen, but they make darn good cars. And about the copying and making them better, pretty much the only country that has been able to do that successfully on a large scale is Japan. There are others like Italy, the UK, Sweden, and even France, which has made some innovations of its own. But Germany is still the number one leader in mechanical engineering.
