I didn't even give a single thought to viruses when downloading and installing the Gimp. Same with Firefox, Thunderbird, Google Earth, WinRAR, 7zip, Google Video Player, Netbeans, the Java SDKs, Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Flash and Shockwave, Spybot, Ad-aware, and some more stuff. Well, maybe one or two thoughts, but never seriously.
