How much would that suck. all the chances, you have a 1/700,000 chance acording to the cencus. kinda like the plane that got struck by lighting in the air video

yes but it proven thatrubber doesn't conduct electricity but metal is target
Mynck
Jul 22 2006, 11:38 AM
I'm just guessing here, but this doesn't seem like a case of what conducts or not. Lightning is just a giant static shock, right? So what matters is build-up of static electric charge.
Humpster

Well yeah, because metal won't protect you. Still if you have piercings or carry around 500 pounds of rubber with you, it doesn't increase or decrease the odds of you getting hit by a lightning.
Mynck
Jul 22 2006, 11:44 AM
Would rubber get very hot when struck by lightning, though? It's huge resistance to electricity would convert a lot of that electricity to heat.

True, but who goes out in thunder carrying a large metal rod? "Hmmm, this looks like the perfect weather to take my 200 pound rod out for a walk" (Franklin doesn't count!) And no, the amount doesn't matter. In MB they even tried a huge nail in the forehead without success. It's just bad luck.

Sounds about right. If your tires are true rubber, your car wont be grounded, so the quickest route to the ground for the electricity would be simply around your car instead of through it.
