HA HA HA HA HA! Really, what do you people see in rap?

Rap, in the mainstream, takes absolutly no talent. Rap was never meant to be recorded, it was meant to be made up on the fly and changed periodically.

That's why rap, in this day and age, sucks.

I could not have said it any better. The true talent is with people who actually do something. Singing and playing the guitar at the same time is very hard. So is singing and playing the drums, or singing and playing bass, and so on. Bands have talent. All a rapper does is get this stupid poser look going to make him look cool and starts rattling off a bunch of crap that most of the time doesn't even make sense. It doesn't even go with the music in the background, they are either yelling the words or just saying them, there is no singing.

Rap is just talking/swearing so fast no one can hear you. Even Pop music, bad as it is, with its CPU generated music, takes vocal skill, unlike rap...

Rap is talking with a beat. Its nothing. All the sounds are computer genorated. And all the lyrics are about sex and how great they are with it and how badly they want to sleep with a person. IT HAS NO POINT TO IT THEREFORE IT HAS NO PURPOSE TO BE LISTENED TO!!!!!!!!!!

Rap is just people trying to look tough and see how fast they can swear. There is no talant.

It's not that of a talentless act. I mean... I wouldn't be able to do it like them. But remember how I was pushing alternative/underground rap? That stuff is often deep, metaphorical, introspective, etc, much more than their gangster counterparts.

Which is why gangster rap and all other teen pop are bad.

Actually, it is talentless, because the rap that get's recorded is not written by the rapper, and is practiced over and over before it's recorded.

Real rap is created on the fly.

First, I think you are confusing the meaning of the verb "to pimp." To pimp is to rent out for sexual favors. Secondly, the adjective "pimped" does mean cool, and is cool, in the sense of a sleazy rich pimp with sweet threads, nice rims, etc., with no regard to the buisness that made the pimp rich.

So why does listening to teen pop or rap make a person's social status go up? It hardly takes any skill (just good looks) unlike rock, jazz, classical, alternative rock, etc.

You are right, I mean, look at The Eagles. They are butt-ugly, but they rock! The only reason a certain music makes one's social status go up is because the music is a crowd favorite.

I'm not particularly fond of preps either, but I think that part of the reason for the "nerd" stereotype is that the people most commonly seen as smart are usually the ones lacking social skills.

And I just caught another glimpse of one of those "Zenon" movies on Disneys that I've ranted about before. It's a bit scary. Everyone in it is like, a creepy prep-nerd splice. In the future, the preps use terms like "squared to the thousandth power!" as slang.... If you ask me, that's even stupider than here and now.

some of the girls in my school are so overobsessive with people like Nick Lachey and such. It makes me SICK and they are going into HIGH SCHOOL. Its sad. And yet they look down on me in my friends for listening to stuff like Underoath and Emery and they think that at any moment we're going to break out into screamo. Gorillaz only have underground rap artists in their works. Their lyrics have real depth and meaning. The music that goes with the rapping actually sounds good and works with the rap.
