NOTE: Not happening until further notice, sorry.

Okay, so in celebration of the upcoming E3, I was planning on having a little trivia contest using the chat feature of krazy letter on Sat. 29, 7PM west-coast. Trivia subjects focus on mainly consoles and handhelds (sorry, not much of a PC gamer myself). Prizes will include...

First Place: 500KP + 500 more from Lappy512
Second Place: 100KP
Losers: a rock

Details and rules will be explained at the contest.

Eh, not really. I know pretty much nothing about this kind of stuff, and I don't really care to learn that much.
issac55

lappy512
I'll hopefully be there. First prize gets 1000 Krazy Points now, because I am contributing 500 KP smile.gif

Mynck

Oh, thought you thought it was 7 Am.
BTW Why LINUX?
Mac is the best, and everyone uses Windows.
And against your previously stated arguments that I might have imagined, we would use Windows even if we didn't live in Redmond (although some more MACs would be used).
We use WIndows, because it is standerdized, and it works!.
Its compatible with everything.

As you weigh the costs and risks of Windows and Linux, consider this: More and more independent analysts and leading companies find that Windows Server System outperforms Linux on TCO, reliability, security, and indemnification. Get the facts, and make the decision that's right for your business.

After a year of attempting to develop an online retail presence using Linux, Tommy Hilfiger had made little progress. The company had six months to complete the project and, beyond that, had to address a set of legacy applications that no longer met its needs. Working with Cactus Commerce and Columbus IT, Tommy Hilfiger met both goals by standardizing on Microsoft® software, including Microsoft Windows Server System™ for the Web site and Microsoft Business Solutions–Axapta® (now part of Microsoft Dynamics™) for global enterprise resource planning. With its new solution, Tommy Hilfiger gains a unified information infrastructure that extends from the company’s online presence to its global retail and wholesale operations and upon which new applications that improve business capabilities can rapidly be deployed. Tommy Hilfiger anticipates new business capabilities, an estimated 25–30 percent decrease in IT operating costs, improved competitive advantage, and an additional return on investment through compressed product design times and supply chain optimization.

Don't use Linux. Only one computer chain sells computers with Linux preinstalled, and unless you live there, just reinstall your Windows XP CD when needed.

This actually proviesa good picture

The fact is... Windows>Linux... but it has a big price tag attached. And if you can't afford that, you'ld best stick with your current operating system. (The Windows one that came with your computer)

Apple is still the best though.

Dude, everyone knows that Windows is only really good for its UI. Its internal system stuff sucks compared to Linux.
lappy512
Linux is a much stabler server system compared to windows.
chuck
i will try, but I won't do very well as I am not huge on handhelds.
Qlumpa
Sweet, I'll start making the questions then.

@ lappy, thanks for the contribution.

If Windows didn't have a price tag, what would you get? Linux lovers are crazy. Windows, is a much better system, not only because of its greatness compared to linux, but also because of its inner godliness. Macs are the best though. They just are, iTunes may not be the best software, but Mr. Noteboom has a Mac ( a laptop Powerbook G4 ), and who doesn'y agree with Mr. Noteboom?

    Computer Ability

        * To install and keep a Linux system working at its best, the user(s) must be a proficient with computers and should ready to be hands on (aware of possible vulnerabilities).
        * The responsible person should be used to Unix type commands. A working knowledge of Unix is useful because some work may be needed to be done in a non-graphical environment.
        * Programs that are not provided as a package or binary require a more adept computer user to install.

    Security

        * As with any clean (initial) system install, Linux security needs to be tightened to make sure any malicious attempts to gain access to a computer will be in vain.

    User Friendliness

        * The installation procedures for Linux are getting better but are not as refined as Windows/MacOS.
        * Graphical interface has progressed, but still has some issues that have not yet be fixed.
        * Not all distributions are the easiest to administer changes. A select few have graphical interfaces for their administration.
        * Inability to use the Novell Distributed Applications.

The three reasons for using Linux are
1. I can afford it.
2. Penguins are Kewl
3. Because I can.

NOne of those are good reasons.

I agree with Linux on a server, but I can't see it on a home desktop, as the greatest idea. Especially when MS cost $30 bucks in our area, and Prime card holders can get 17% off apple comps.

Linux is godly because Unix is godly. If all OS's were free, I'd use Unix, the most powerful, versatile, and easiest to use operating system of all time. BUT, since Unix costs an arm and a leg like Windows, linux is the best choice. The lack of GUI giving it an insane speed boost is reason enough to use *nix over everything else. Hell, even Dos is allright because of this simple reason. One thing, Dos isnt nearly as powerful or as useful as *nix, so it gets canned.

You want to know why the mac OS is the best GUI operating system? Because it's based on Unix, giving it the power and versitility of *nix, with the GUI for morons who cant operate a command line. I guess people who are to stupid to operate a CLI are also too stupid to realize how much the GUI wastes system resources, which is why Windows and Mac still seem to prosper.

I don't know, I've never used Windows Server. But I do know that Linux is a pain in the arse to manage. Random crashes and the such occur very commonly. And you always have to fix things yourself. And it's really hard. And you almost always end up reinstalling the thing.

Personally, I'd prefer to use Windows Server, but it's got the classic problem: incompatibility.
Bobalini
LOL incompatibility lol... if you want incompatibility go get a mac
