Looks as though Amazon has begun selling Blu-ray and HD-DVD titles for pre-order. From the looks of it, those people who refuse to move ahead (gameclaw, et cetera) and say that these things will be too expensive, well, they're just wrong.
Chronos for Blu-ray and HD-DVD are $22.49 each. So not only are they scarcely more expensive than DVD movies, Blu-ray titles are in the same price range as HD-DVD. Now which one is a better deal I wonder?
myscrnnm, I already told you I'm on the blu-ray side of this force. Saying the Prices will likely be higher when it comes out and hoping they go down fast does not mean I'm anti-blu-ray. HD-DVD is supposed to be expensive too, anyway.
Of course, if you count the price of the players, it isn't quite DVD-range yet. Since you can buy DVD players for $20, but it costs about $500 for blu-ray. Of course, this is simply part of the process of phasing in the new thing. Even if the new drive isn't worth that much, they'd charge that much at first, as a marketing ploy. Make people think it's worth $500, but when we lower it to $100, they'll still think it's worth $500, and they're getting a great deal, or so the story goes...
