The Japanese military is very weak and limited right now. Japan itself is afraid of letting its government have a more powerful military after WWII, more so than the rest of the world seems to care. Should they be allowed a stronger military?

I believe that Japan should be able to amass a larger military. They have the technology to do it, after all. And the United States owes them hundreds of billions of dollars.

They should not. They have already abused their power in WWII, why give them another chance?

It seems to me like spending lots of money on their military would simply be a waste of money. I mean, they are not likely to be attacked all out any time soon. Even if they were, there would be quite a response from the rest of the world. It seems like all the money that they would put into bombs, etc. could and is being used for better things. One of the reasons why Japan is right up there with Europe and America in terms of domestic strength is becuase it has spent a lot of effort developing its domestic infrastructure, economy, etc. If they spent a lot of money on their military, they would have a weaker domestic infrastructure.

That was the United State's fault. And besides, the Russia Federation, the People's Republic of China, et cetera all abused military power and now they have nukes. So why should Japan be left out?

When using the label "Japanese", you have to be careful who you're talking about. The Japanese government of the early 20th century is incredibly different then what it is today. Also, the Japanese culture of ancient Japan is also much more different then that of today.

You realize that was a hyperbole? And good thought, Anthony. The US spends about 400 billion a year on military while Japan only spends over 45 billion. If we ditched everything except for a few hundred nukes and the equipment needed to use them, those few hundred billion could be used for all sorts of things.

Japan is more credible than China though, so you must look at all the aspects of the situation.

It has been more than sixty years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki were annihilated, most people would know that the Japanese have changed from what they've seen.
