I'm from ICS. I think the district blocks too much stuff. Dont You?

Indeed it does. We need to rebel against the district.

Ugh...why do you always feel the need to "rebel" against an educational authority? Peace works just as well as violence works.

There IS a way to get past things...but I'm not going to post it publicly; because I don't want it to be blocked by the district. But, it's fairly easy.
As long as they don't block Krazy Letter, I'm fine with it

They won't block KL because its so small that they don't even know it exists.

Nov 17 2005, 03:41 PM
yep, unless they see too many people playing in the arcade (there's around 12 active users every day at lunch playing in KL arcade)
Also, neowin is a fairly big forum, and it hasn't been blocked. So, hopefully, no.

It's so bad when you go to a website from a google search, searching for something for your project, and it's blocked.
And it's also annoying how the district mail system cuts scripting out of HTML files.

Exactly. I mean, you input for instance the F-word and this stupid websense thing appears.

Um...Of course swear words aren't really good, in the eyes of most people, and the school district. Also, you have a danger that adult websites might come up.
I'm happy that I have (myusername) at krazyletter.com; it's much easier to access my own webmail, instead of the district email.
Oh, and sometimes I PM myself my documents.

That's a pretty cool idea, a personal "email" system. I would do that, but I always keep my USB flash drive with me, so not a problem.

Hey, if you read "the line" (ICS's Magazine) Then some VERY inapropriate things are not blocked, but when a person tried to search for the book: Naked at the feast, ( At KCLS.org) She/he was blocked, since the result conttained the word "Naked" How pityfull. Pornograghy come pouring to inocent minds, but you cant get a BOOK!!!!!!!!!

that's why I have developed my own thing to bypass the school filters

Also, yesterday, I've come up with a way to get to gmail

www.bypassbrowser.com
Used to be owned by someone I know, but when they got 90,000+ hits/day, the host suspended the account, so he sold it. Anyway, a very good service

cool; I'm setting up one on KL; currently it is at (edited) (proxy is spelled without an 'r' so filters won't catch it)

The main point about this district is that they give everybody really childish play sites. Everybody is bored. Also, they should get Firefox. Then, we wouldn't have so many problems.

If you can find me in the library during lunch, which shouldn't be too much of a problem (unless you're not in my school), I can show you how to get "teacher access"

Ooh...
We have puny little junk things.
I wish that the district would spend more money on trips though.

about a month ago I was browsing and tried to go to www.parentorganizer.com , which is used by ICS to send out school news and info about upcoming events. When I tried to go to it on the ICS library computer, they had blocked it. I then asked the school librarian if she could ask the district to unblock it, and they eventually did 2 weeks later

2 ways of bypassing a filter (such as websense)
1) Firefox - allows me to change my proxy from the default school proxy
2)
