It runs OSses slower than usual; I tried it and I didn't like it.
yzork05
why would yiu want multiple oss.

Say you wanted to use two programs at once... one is incompatible with Linux, and the other is incompatible with Windows.

Slow, I'd rather just run WINE on Linux.
lappy512
WINE is not perfectly compatible...

Another Idea is to run VMWare on Linux...the base system will be more efficient, loosing less processes to the OS, and then allowing the VMWare to perform better.

I am going to install linux on an old PC, but I am not exactly sure how to do this. Do I need Nero or some such program to burn an ISO file to a disc, and then boot from a cd every time? Unfortunately, I am not sure if our old computer reads cd-r's so how would I install it if it doesn't.
lappy512
CD-R's should be readable on all computers, but CD-RW's aren't.

Yes, you need nero or something. If you don't have Nero, or Roxio, I recommend to use this:

Or, I have some Ubuntu CD's (one release old), in my locker, just find me in the computer lab during lunch.

Ubuntu doesnt really give the entire linux experience... it takes out all need to know anything about a command line.
