I got 10/10, too. You found this on BettyBandFan's website, didn't you?
Mynck
Yeah, after myscrnnm talked about it in the fight between her and spaceboy.
Korps Commander
Yay, I got 10/10.

Actually, I did this stuff in 6th grade, so.......

myscrnnm, did you mess up on the one asking which is between 0.4 and 1/2? The answer was 45%.
*

I think it was the thing about 40%. And then it asked what number it was. But 40% can be any number, so the quiz is wrong, not me.

No. By definition, 40% means 0.4. Our math teacher in 7th grade just screwed up in her understanding. A percent is a part out of 100. So 40 percent is 40/100. When you say 40 percent of 4 pies, that's like saying 0.4 * 4 pies. "Of" used like that pretty much means multiplication. Like "2 of this thing," or, "A half of 2."

I see. But still, both answers are correct because the question was not specific enough. Because technically, 40% isn't really one constant number.
BettyBandFan
whoa.....ok quick reminder on that.....I got it off of www.blogthings.com
They have tons of stuff like that. And the only reason I passed was because I'm in 8th grade math.
Spaceman3750
myscrnnm, why do you have the inability to admit when you are wrong? I can't believe you. You are so egotistical that you are arguing that a quiz was wrong!
BettyBandFan
hey Ryan.........go away.....u didn't take the quiz and u weren't a part of this....so GO AWAY.
Spaceman3750
Mmm, sorry, I'm afraid I can't do that. See, I actually take part in these forums, you just sit and insult me.
BettyBandFan
its my job to sit and insult u
EclipsedSun
mmmkay time to post. first off, that quiz was not 8th grade math (10/10 duh)
secondly, the quiz on "could you pass the citizenship test" is a bit more fun and complex (still really easy though) and third off, mcrysnsfnfm whatever you seriously are way too egotistical.

Because I wasn't wrong. There is actually more than one answer to the question, and I just happened to choose the one that the quiz did not appreciate. It is kind of like having a riddle, where the person answers with an answer that works, but the person saying the riddle has a different answer and is like, "No, that's just like totally wrong. I mean like, oh my gosh, you're like so darn stupid!"
Mynck
But you are wrong!

The definition of "percent" is 0.01, just as "permille" means 0.001!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percent

QUOTE
A percentage is a way of expressing a proportion, a ratio or a fraction as a whole number, by using 100 as the denominator. A number such as "45%" ("45 percent" or "45 per cent") is shorthand for the fraction 45/100 or 0.45.

Technically, .01 is one percent of one.
Korps Commander
0.01 and .01 are the same thing!

I NEVER SAID THAT THEY ARE DIFFERENT!!!! STOP TRYING TO MAKE ME LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT!!!!!!1 I am sick of your libel and deception. Trying to cover up my old posts with your lies so I can look like a man of lesser intelligence than you. I might not have an IQ of 195, but at least I am honest. And honour is sometimes more important than mere cunning.
Korps Commander
Then why did you argue (or correct) with Mynck when they are the same thing????

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! THIS IS NOT A MATTER OF HOW TO WRITE .01. IT IS A MATTER OF WHAT .01 IS!!!!!!!!!11

No... 0.01 is one percent of one, but "of" means "multiplied by." Like "a hundredth of one."

If "one percent of one" and "one hundredth of one" mean the same thing, then we can pretty safely assume that "one percent" and "one hundredth" mean the same thing.

Also, with ratios, "percent" means "per hundred." One per hundred is a ratio equivilant to 0.01.
lappy512
10% of 523 = 0.1 x 523 = 52.3

1% of $200 = 0.01 x 200 = 2

A percent is 1/100, by definition

http://www.google.com/search?q=percent
Google says Percent = 0.01

if you search on a9, if you don't like google:
http://a9.com/percent

The first result says:
What is a Percent?

A percent is a ratio of a number to 100. A percent can be expressed using the percent symbol %.

The second result, clicking on "percent of a number" in this goes here: http://www.aaaknow.com/pct61ax2.htm

Multiply the number by the percent (e.g. 87 * 68 = 5916)
Divide the answer by 100 (Move decimal point two places to the left) (e.g. 5916/100 = 59.16)

Or, you can just say: multiply the number by the percent (eg 87 * 0.68)
there's the answer

If you think this is wrong, please reply in FULL DETAIL, disproving each and every one of my points.
BettyBandFan
wow I havn't been on here in a while. Ok....whoever started talking about the US citizen test...that's fun 2. and mysrnnm.....your not an idiot.....I only got 8/10 on that quiz cause I'm just now learnin that stuff......I should get my boyfriend on here....he's a math FREAK.
